Tantra, often referred to as the Yoga of Power, is a profound spiritual path that originated as a private conversation between the cosmic entities Shiva and Shakti, tailored for the needs of the Kali Yuga. It's an art form developed from rituals, practices, and meditations in ancient texts, teaching that everything is sacred and serving as a comprehensive path for the evolution of the human soul and consciousness.

At its core, Tantra and its related paths, Tantrism and Shaktism, emphasize action and mastery over the body's latent energies. 'Shakti' signifies the power to act, while 'Tantra', stemming from 'tan' (to extend or expand) and 'tra' (instrument), signifies it as a tool for expanding consciousness. In Yogic traditions, Shiva symbolizes unchanging consciousness, and Shakti represents dynamic power, manifesting as mind and matter. This duality is embodied in the Kundalini Shakti, which lies dormant at the Muladhara Chakra's base.

Tantra's goal, closely intertwined with Yoga, is to transcend physical limitations, cultivating energy to enhance health and consciousness. It's a journey of awakening untapped potential, mastering and circulating sexual energy throughout the body, not for mere gratification but for spiritual and personal transformation.

Human existence in this era is deeply intertwined with the physical body, making it impractical to adopt a stance of pure detachment as advocated in early Buddhism and various yoga traditions. Instead, Tantra suggests a path of enlightenment that involves gaining knowledge, experiencing spiritual awakening, and mastering the secret energies within the body.

This knowledge is extremely important during the Great Awakening, and as a result, these aspects are becoming more popular. Some of the original texts describe methods of self-mastery, such as awakening the serpent power (Kundalini), Ātma Kriyā yoga, invoking the power of mantras, yantras, sexual alchemy, and divine union. Tantra is the system for releasing Shakti, the primordial energy. To achieve this, it is necessary to work diligently with a proper diet, proper breathing (pranayama), proper exercise, proper relaxation, and proper thoughts (meditation).
